| Resumen: | Durante la última década, Nintendo ha tenido serias dificultades para mantenerse a flote en el mercado ultra-competitivo de los video-juegos. Su suerte se revirtió solamente cuando modificaron radicalmente su estrategía (creando un Blue Ocean), cambiando así las reglas del juego. Con el lanzamiento de la Nintendo Wii a fines de 2006, recuperaron su posición de liderazgo y se convirtieron en el principal rival a vencer por rivales de la talla de Sony (Playstation 3) y Microsoft (Xbox360). |

| Resumen: | Within Economy field, a proposition is strengthened -smoothing their way to be taken by serious and to be established as a fact- if it allows to the creation of econometric tools linked since the beginning to the claim, along the process of configuration, strengthening and confirmation of its truths, legitimating them. This does not cancel the truths of Economy, but it relativizes them by claiming that they are not detached from especific accounting systems (framings) embedded within them since its configuration. This article analyzes the controversies arousing from meetings among two heterogeneous entities: Microsoft and Open Software, particulary how is established an accounting instrument around these meetings that acts over the conditions of truth or falsehood of economic propositions in the field of the economy of software. We focus over how an early situation of open conflict seems to lead to the establishing of a space of economic negotiations. Then, the conflict is partially transformed into an contest ordered by an "actant", the accounting instrument: "Software’s total cost of ownership". This instrument grew up in scale in January, 2004 with an advertising campaign and the creation of the Microsoft owned website "Get the facts". |

| Resumen: | El presente artículo intenta realizar una demostración de las cualidades globales que posee el nuevo sistema operativo LINUX a nivel técnico, y develar el cambio que está engendrando en el sector económico y en el mundo cultural. Esto se realiza por medio, de un análisis comparativo entre los sistemas operativos: Comerciales (Microsoft) y Open Source (LINUX). El mundo de hoy está caracterizado por cambios rádicales y rápidos, ocurriendo con mayor frecuencia en el sector de la informática. Actualmente en éste sector y específicamente en el ámbito del sofware, es LINUX el nuevo sistema operativo que está modificando el mundo de la informática. Todo ello se efectuó sobre los lineamientos metodológicos exploratorios, porque la literatura sobre los avances de Linux es escasa, por lo tanto el trabajo responde a la sintesis de un amplio trabajo (Conferencias, Exposiciones en Universidades, Asociaciones de empresas, entre otros) de los autores, llevaron a cabo desde que el producto LINUX es conocido y trabajado por una pequeña elite de técnicos. |

| Resumen: | This article presents the initial development of a decision support system (DSS) to assess cost impacts of upgrading or replacing a transit ticketing and fare collection (TFC) system. Assessment of these costs, typically, requires extensive calculations and involves estimation of unknown parameters such as future ridership growth rate, equipment utilization rate, and interest rate on debt financing. This DSS is developed with two categories of policy- and decision-makers in mind?transit agency manag- ers and transit industry researchers and policy-makers. With the aid of this DSS, a transit manager or analyst is able to specify current TFC system characteristics, select desirable options for a new TFC system, and in a matter of minutes estimate capital costs, forecast operating costs, perform net present value and payback period analyses for alternative TFC systems. This article also presents a prototype TFC DSS including a model base, database, knowledge base, and the Microsoft Excel-based graphical user interface. |
